Guilt-free Thanks

My Thanksgiving thought: Do something WONDERFULLY DIFFERENT this holiday.

So I ask myself what that will be for me....And after much pondering conclude: I will HARBOR NO GUILT this Thanksgiving for any of the gifts/advantages that have come to me.

In fact that's probably a prerequisite for experiencing gratitude.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

Oh Peggy, you truly deserve to relish in all of the gifts and advantages that have come your way throughout life. You really, really do. I know how difficult it is to accept the idea that we are entitled to all of the goodness that is bestowed upon us, especially when we can look around and see that not everybody is as fortunate. But you are right. Accepting that life is pretty darn good, and that we are worthy of all of the wonderful gifts, is a prerequisite for experiencing gratitude. When we accept a gift from someone, it is always a natural reaction to thank that person for the gift. We think about how thoughtful the person's actions were. We feel gratitude towards the individual, and we immediately respond to that person by saying "Thank you". It should be just as natural, therefore, to receive the intangible gifts and advantages that God, life, The Universe, present to us, without feeling that we should feel guilty about the fact that someone else may not have received the same unique opportunities.

I love that you brought up this observation, because it is causing me to think about how many gifts/advantages that I sometimes feel a bit guilty about. I sometimes hide or downplay terrific things that happen, because I feel guilty, or less worthy than someone else, and I don't want to seem like I am gloating in any way. I will definitely keep in mind, this Thanksgiving and always, that by experiencing gratitude, true, pure gratitude, I must accept life's gifts with a totally open heart.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Hi Peggy,
I agree with Debra that it is easier to say "Thank You" to someone else rather than when we receive gifts from God, life or the Universe.

How can we be grateful for our prosperity when our fellow human doesn't have a home?

Receiving special gifts does not mean we are better, it means we know how to talk to our subconscious. Our subconscious believes everything we tell it.

Thanks for this reminder.
