The Closet Challenge

A few days ago, Mamie Potter of the Can I Do It? blog posted a photo of her closet and an invitation on this blog for others to do the same.

She was simply considering cleaning hers out. In response, Billie Hinton posted a shot of hers on her blog, Camera Obscura saying, "I don't know why but I love the idea of exposing my junky inner self to the world."

Not having anything to hide is a very freeing thing. I never thought of my closet as being hidden, but "in the closet" is certainly the classic phrase used for keeping a large secret.

So I think Mamie's really onto something with this idea. And here is the unveiling of my own junky inner self. It is so much neater than my mental world--or the inside of my car.

If any of the rest of you decide to take part in this closet experiment, do let us all know.

I've been checking in all day long for this! :)

Love the color and that little wooden stool. I need one of those in my closet!

Who knew this would be so interesting? Well, Mamie, now that I think about it.

The stool is a wonderful thrift shop find, allows me to get to my "gift shelf" above my clothes.

I'm a great fan of little stools. In our kitchen closet, I use a cinderblock I painted white with stars.

I noticed you were strong on denim, which certainly makes sense. And I have more blue than I realized.

It's definitely important to get this perspective.

Oh, I'm feeling better already. Unfortunately, though, your closet may be "blue" but it is not odious. And that stool makes me think of a time when I was standing on one very similar, it tipped (as did I), and I landed on the leg somewhere in the area of my breath. My grandfather seemed delighted that he had told me so. I am also struck that you have a gift shelf in your closet because so do I! Thanks, Peggy, for sharing this.

I'm still astounded that I had considered this space extremely neat.

Do let us know when you come up with any more such interestingly freeing ideas, Mamie.
