Answering E-Mail -- All of It

Just caught up on e-mail completely. Even the ones that were harder to answer, or took time. (There's one pending that requires a piece of info I don't have yet, but that doesn't count.)

I consider this quite bold. Sometimes I'll open and close one a few times before answering it: not bold.

It feels invigorating to do these little things in an unhesitating way. And it's hard to remember that as the little things pile up.

Thanks for reminding me that there is an important email that I need to address! I can be quite bad about that.

So did you get the important email answered, Debbie?

I tend to put off the important ones so I can pay more attention and it would probably work out better if I just answered immediately. For one thing, I wouldn't be setting up standards for myself, like Much More Thoughtful Reply.

Nope, I am embarrassed to say that I haven't but what you said about the "Much More Thoughtful Reply" is EXACTLY what blocks me from taking care of things like this immediately. Honestly, that is not really a good excuse and I should just write a quick note to let the person know that I need a little time to answer.

Do you sometimes "forget" to reply to those important emails and then feel a bit awkward about replying? I have got to get better about just being short, rather than completely forgetting!

I do something worse than forgetting, Debbie. I let it become enormous before I get around to it. And then, yes, it's awkward.

There's a lot of wisdom in "Just Do It."
