Psychotherapy at Home

My psychologist husband Bob told me a few weeks ago that he now knew how to help me stop clenching my teeth at night.

Yesterday we took on that project, which involved first about a half an hour interview (what was the most frightening moment in my life? angriest moment in my life? etc) and then about an hour and a half of hypnotic altered state during which I was floating around in my entire history/memory/imagination.

My inner experiences ranged from a fire that occurred when I was ten days old to the current plight of Tiger Woods and a whole lot in between. I won't try to explain all that or burden you with details. But it was one of the most cathartic experiences of my life.

I don't know yet whether I stopped clenching my teeth, since I do it only in my sleep. But time will tell that. And I felt so good this morning that I didn't care about that at all. It was a tremendous lightening for me. And I felt happy with us both. It felt to me like a fairly bold undertaking for him and for me.

I have been under hypnosis before and I would definitely not trust MY husband to do it....LOL. Of course, he isn't a professional.

If you don't stop clenching your teeth from this or further hypnosis, get a night guard and save your teeth!

I have to smile at your success. Wish I had the same degree of effectiveness when I ask my contractor husband to fix things around the house!

Interesting post.

I love the idea of floating around in my entire history/memory/imagination - does Bob do house calls? :)

u must trust ur husband w/o reservation ,a rare & wonderful gift to him & rich experience for u & u both. It'd take an unusually competent , mature & balanced huysband & relationship to make such an adventure safe, wise & effective. i respect yr judgment & wish we all cld be so well partnered--less biz for the healers & way more happiness & satisfaction for everyone else ! warmly, AIKI

I do trust the guy, Anon, which is a very nice thing. And I do use a night guard, Kenju. Wouldn't mind being able to stop.

And does Bob do house calls? Well, I'll ask.

How many contractors does it take to change a light bulb? One, with a good hypnotist planting the suggestion.

Cool,I hope it helped you.My mom's a counselling psychologist and i know this stuff helps.
P.S:I'm not married but if i were would not let my husband hypnotise me.

Make that two house calls.

Megha, the thing I've heard Bob say a million times in seminars and talks is: "All hypnosis is self-hypnosis." You really can't be hypnotised into doing something you don't want to do.

But I find it a lot easier to go into trance for a particular purpose if I'm listening to a good relaxing induction.

Okay, house calls all round. Actually the only time I remember Bob making a house call was to go sit with a guy the night he was dying, to help make that emotionally/psychologically easier.
