Rising to a New Level as a Blogger

I've been attacked!

I'm so excited!

In my reading about blogging, I've often run across the suggestion that an ambitious blogger post an attack on someone well-known to create some controversy.

So I attacked Sarah Palin--with total sincerity--but didn't see my star rise any higher as a result.

Now, out of the blue, I find that someone named Swan Fungus finds my latest post about setting up my new DVD to be uninspiring.

I believe that this means I'm a celebrity and able to boost the careers of others, which I am happy to do. Add to that the fact that today is my 61st birthday and it's obvious why I'm feeling pretty festive. Gotta think of an extra-bold celebration.

(My first post had a typo!!)
Happy Birthday - I have two other friends with birthdays today!

On Facebook, I have a couple of rabid conservative friends. Yesterday one of them posted a poll: Re-elect Obama, yes or no. She, of course, said no, and I asked, "Who WILL you vote for?" She replied that unless it was Sarah Palin, she would vote for anyone but Obama. I'm glad you eliminated her at least, I replied. She said, Yeah, I haven't been for her since she resigned as governor.

Oh my god. I wanted to write so many things. For instance that I haven't been for her since the first time she opened her mouth. But I kept quiet. Again, I admire your nerve to speak out. It's hard to find the line between speaking out and being combative for me.

Sometimes I think I've been combative and it turns out my combat didn't even register. It's just hard to know how it is that ithers see us.

I'm glad you're coming to my "Get Your Ganges On" workshop, Mamie.

I left the fungus guy a comment.

Mamie, I feel the same as you about SP.

Wow, I am glad that the Fungus won't be stopping by your blog anymore. He happened upon you by accident and hopefully he will disappear just as quickly. I wish I could get the twenty seconds I spent reading his post back again. Yuck.

Now I need triple chocolate fudge cake!

My husband got me to watch a movie once that was so bad I told him he owed me my hourly rate. The thing was, he walked out in the first 20 minutes. But once into it, I foolishly kept on.

Very wise anecdote, Peggy!
