Adventures on the Sidewalk

Friday, I dared to spare a few extra minutes.

So often in the course of a work day, I could walk where I need to go, but drive instead to "save time."

Today I walked to and from lunch at the Side Street Cafe. It's maybe nine blocks.

Here's a little of what I would have whizzed past if I'd ridden.

And the smell of a gardenia-laden bush.

Not to mention the honeysuckle. The city even provided regular reminders to leave the car behind and "waste" a little time on the sidewalk.

Getting outside and moving this little bit added a sense of variety and adventure to my work day.

I thought about you this weekend as I walked everywhere in the city. There's something to be said for taking our feet instead of our cars (or public transportation).

I think I spent more time outside in NY than I do living in the country, Mamie. Of course, I wasn't "working." That no doubt makes a difference.

Give it another shot, Kenju. It's very nice and tablecloth-y. My salad was excellent.
