About Benazir Bhutto

A story I wrote about my encounter with Benazir Bhutto was published today in my local paper, the Raleigh News & Observer. It's an essay and a loss I feel strongly about. I hope you'll read it. In any event, I say again here: I wish her spirit godspeed.

I read your piece in today's N&O and it set off a whole chain reaction of thoughts. And an order for Sister India too ;). The former you'll find in your email if your spam filter doesn't toss it aside. The latter... well I assume you'll see part of it at some point. Looking forward to reading the book... Banaras is one of my favorite settings for such things.

I'll be interested to see your chain reaction, and hope you like Sister India. I loved Banaras and wonder if I'll get back there some day.

I'm in DC still, and this evening took a cab driven by a Punjabi, from near the Pakistan/India border. A hard time there, we agreed.

Also, James, chain reactions of thoughts are always welcome here.
