Patriotic Spending

My local paper published this weekend a list of 101 ways to save money: don't go out to eat and things like that.

I certainly do understand that. And at the same time, there's a strong argument for going out to eat, if possible, as much as usual. Because if all the restaurants in town go out of business, that's not going to help the economy a whole lot. Restaurants failing will hurt every other business in the community as well, thus leading to more layoffs.

Me--I'm going to keep on buying that 99-cent BLT at the Cookout drive-thru down the street. I consider it bold and patriotic.

HA! Maybe that's why I'm keeping Bojangles in business. And I thought it was because I like their biscuits!

You're just doing your civic duty, Kenju. And I thank you for it.

Cookout? Now you're talking my language...chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomato, mayo, honey mustard...and onion rings.
And iced tea.

Ridiculous to make small businesses suffer to save a few dollars. I totally agree with your point of view here, Peggy! We have to help one another to thrive and survive! Otherwise, people get laid off, they can't pay their rent or mortgage, downhill spiral...

Enjoy those BLTs! They sound like a nice deal, anyway.

Hugs,
Debbie

I've tried to make sure I keep buying services from my self-employed friends and colleagues especially - massage therapist, mural painter, etc. and cut back in other ways.

Keeping the money flowing is a good thing, imo.

Mimi, Debbie, Billie--I'm glad we agree on this form of liquidity.

Also, Mimi, have you tried the caramel milkshakes at Cookout? I wish government was ever as good at doing what they do as Cookout is.

Good thought, too, Billie, about the massage therapists, etc. I'll start tilting that way. I'm very small-business oriented anyway; since I am one and grew up in a Mom and Pop retailing business.
