The long-scorned tabloid,
The National Enquirer, is reportedly in the running for a
Pulitzer prize. The Pulitzer folks have allowed them into the race, submitting the stories that broke the John Edwards story. (This news was broken by the
Huffington Post and then reported in
The New York Times, and of course
The Enquirer.)
The Enquirer deserves to win, and not just because it's thrilling to see an underdog rise to fame. They did an extraordinary job of reporting and I'm glad to see prejudices and outdated images of the publication give way to recognizing this excellent newspaper work.
Bold updated admission of my own: I have a glance at the
Enquirer website most every day I'm at a computer.

Oddly enough, I've never ever purchased a copy of the National Enquirer, nor have I visited their website. Although, one of my childhood friends used to collect them. She said that eventually, one day, she was bound to read about someone she knows in one of the publications. I wonder how that's working for her!!
Back in the 1980's, I gave a very uppity boyfriend who dumped me in a mean spirited fashion a subscription to the Star.
I had it delivered to his very staid office emblazoned with his full name. I felt so much better knowing he would be horrified.

I think the old/outdated/scorned Enquirer and Mr. Edwards would have been a better match then than now!
But more power to them! The National Enquirer, that is.

it's hard to set aside my negative ! view of the NE , & on yr rec , i'll lean toward an opener mind.
pls say u dont really enjoy juicy gossip , regardless of accuracy & pitched to make money from gullible fools by misinformation or vilely besmirching reputations/public images .Aiki
